History


1995
The Recal Foundation was set up in Poland under the auspices of Ball Packaging Europe (at the time Schmalbach-Lubeca) in 1995. The foundation focuses on environmental education and public relations work and promotes recycling awareness, in particular amongst children and adolescents.

2001
Ball Packaging Europe also became one of the founder members of the recycling organisation Recal S.A. in Poland whose task is to collect and recycle beverage cans.

2003
In September, Recal S.A. opened its first recycling center in Poland (Stargard Szczecinski).

2004
End of 2004, Ball Packaging Europe assumed sole ownership of the Polish Recal S.A. and subsequently renamed it recan.

2005
In April 2005, recan opened its 2nd recycling center in Poland (Radomsko) and set up activities in Serbia, followed by branches in Germany and the Netherlands.

2006
In 2006 recan opened its 3rd recycling center in Poland (Nasielsk/district Warsaw).
