The recycling of used beverage cans results in significant savings in base material and energy consumption and at the same time contributes to sustaining natural resources.

recan therefore aims to raise the beverage can recycling rate in all the countries in which the company operates. To achieve this objective, recan co-operates closely with its affiliated organisations, the European recan Funds and in Poland with Recal Foundation, which promote consumers awareness of the benefits of beverage can recycling.

Over the past few years, the close co-operation between recan and the Recal Foundation in Poland has significantly influenced the anual rise in the volume of used aluminium cans collected to in excess of the statutory requirements and has proved compatible with social expectations in respect of collection and recycling rate.
